When we hit the road in January, our two pups (Rhea & Toad) will be coming with. It will be interesting to see how they respond living in a small place (with an enormous yard). On our first couple trial weekend trips, they have done pretty well. They’re always so excited to go somewhere new.
They each have very funny and distinctive personalities, but the two things they have most in common are that they love snuggling & snoring (the majority of the day) and they LOVE food. The fact that they’re lazy most of the day makes me think that the trailer life might be ok for them. They’ll have an entire bed to themselves; surely an upgrade from the couch.
Their differences are quite endearing…
Rhea who is now 4.5 years old still has a little bit of puppy energy on reserve for when we go outside. She loves being outside and in particular, she loves grass. When we moved back from NYC where grass is scarce, whenever she saw grass she would sprint in circles and roll around uncontrollably. Even after 2.5 years of living in Madison, she still thinks grass is magical.
She’s also the one to instigate playtime and loves her toys, especially her hedgehog, whereas Toad could give a crap about toys.
As for Toad, he’s you’re extreme couch potato pup. We adopted him just over a year ago from the Chicago French Bulldog Rescue so we’re not exactly sure how old he is, but our best guess is 6. We knew he would be a great match for Rhea when we read that he was a cuddler that just wanted to hang out. Sure enough, that’s exactly who he is.
Aside from food, he loves belly rubs most of all.
Oh, and he loves car rides too.
We can’t wait to meet other pug, frenchie, flat faced and other small creatures on the road. Couldn’t do this road trip without my furry traveling companions.
Stay tuned for updates on how they like life on the road.
